i cooked every recipe in alison roman’s “dining in”

Last year, I made it my new year’s resolution to cook every recipe in one of my favorite cookbooks, Dining In (Alison Roman). All 113 of them. It was an expensive year, filled with a lot of master scheduling and planning ahead, very strategic shopping, and several exhausting hunts for the elusive ingredient — but I did it. And I’m so glad I did.
Overall it was a huge success, and I learned so much as I got more and more experience in the kitchen. Were there a couple of recipes I didn’t like? Sure. Did I mess a few of them up big time? You know it. But I nailed a few too, and for the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I made. We’ll get to all of the highs and lows another day, though.
Aside from leveling up in the kitchen and eating really well for a year, the best part of the whole journey was able to share so much of it with friends and family. I felt so supported and cheered on along the way, even though it seemed like a silly endeavor, and I was able to show some love in return by sharing the meals I made with those I care about.
So for now, this is just an appreciation post. Please enjoy a bird’s-eye-view of 113 recipes I devoured last year. (In no particular order, because I do not have the time or patience for that.)
